Two journeys checked separately. One compatible sector. Shared everyday priorities.
Enter both situations without mixing them up
On the PlaceForMe home page, select “As a couple”. Complete “You”, then “Your partner”. Each person keeps their workplace address, transport mode and maximum commute. For public transport, specify the arrival time too.
One person can drive while the other uses public transport, and their journey limits can differ. You do not have to force identical settings to make the comparison simple.
- You: your workplace and acceptable journey.
- Your partner: their own address and travel constraints.
- Together: surroundings and services important to the household.
Find one place that works for both
Shared possibilities are based on the same residential sector meeting both journey limits. Two good commutes found in different neighbourhoods of a municipality do not make one home suitable for both.
The map shows shared possibilities, not every area reachable from the first workplace. Colours represent the longer of the two journeys; they do not replace the individual times shown in results.
Discuss the trade-off, not just the score
A 20-minute commute for one person and 35 minutes for the other may be acceptable if that compromise works for you. Compare both times, your transport modes and useful services rather than stopping at a municipality’s rank.
Refinements are shared household priorities. Decide their importance together. Rankings describe a match with your settings, not an absolute value for a municipality or a universal measure of fairness between commutes.
If there are no shared possibilities
Tight journey limits or distant workplaces may leave no compatible sector. An empty map is not a reason to invent an area or ignore one person’s commute.
Return to the settings and consider what can genuinely change: an acceptable limit for one person, another mode or another arrival time. Do not relax a constraint you cannot sustain day to day.
Before selecting a home, check both journeys from its exact address. Times are indicative, driving does not include real-time traffic, and a residential sector does not guarantee every address within it.
Sources and method
Municipality examples are geographical starting points, not calculated results. This guide explains the current PlaceForMe method and publishes no personal profile. Confirm timetables and local information with the relevant sources.
